Jamie Lee Curtis reflects on lifelong friendship with Melanie Griffith
Jamie Lee Curtis talks about her 45 years of friendship bond with Melanie Griffith
Jamie Lee Curtis recently opened up about her decades long friendship with fellow actress Melanie Griffith.
Speaking to PEOPLE at the premiere of her new film Ella McCay on Tuesday, December 9, the 67-year-old actress reflected on how her bond with Griffith began nearly 45 years ago.
Despite both hailing from renowned Hollywood households — Curtis is the daughter of Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis while Griffith is the daughter of Tippi Hedren and Peter Griffith — the two didn’t meet until their early 20s.
“We were daughters of Hitchcock Blondes, raised in Los Angeles, didn't know each other,” the Halloween actress told the outlet.
Still, Curtis says that their friendship truly formed while working together on the 1981 TV movie She's in the Army Now.
“We were in a TV movie called She's In the Army Now … for ABC about women in the army and she and I were in it. And it was like that idea of meeting somebody and going like, 'Oh my God, where have you been my whole life?'” she recalled.
The Freaky Friday star added “And then we were party friends for quite a bit of [time] and had a lot of fun, and we've known each other all these years, and we've reconnected in the last 10, 15 years in a much stronger way. And we're just dear friends, dear old friends.”
She also hints at a deeply personal connection the two share, joking, “None of which I can tell you. Not one second can I tell you about it.”
For the unversed, Jamie Lee Curtis' latest film Ella McCay was released on December 12.
