Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest have broken their silence after the deaths of their longtime friends Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner.

The couple’s statement was provided by Curtis on both of their behalf, as she began, “Christopher and I are numb and sad and shocked about the violent, tragic deaths of our dear friends Rob and Michele Singer Reiner and our ONLY focus and care right now is for their children and immediate families and we will offer all support possible to help them.”

“There will be plenty of time later to discuss the creative lives we shared a the great political and social impact they both had on the entertainment industry, early childhood development, the fight for gay marriage and their global care for a world in crisis,” the statement continued.

The 67-year-old actress concluded her remarks by adding, “We have lost great friends. Please give us time to grieve.”

Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest reportedly had their wedding at the late filmmaker’s home in 1984. While the latter has collaborated with the actor and director on multiple projects, including This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, and A Few Good Men.

Rob and Michele Reiner were found murdered at their California residence by their daughter, Romy, on December 14 while their son Nick has been named as the alleged culprit by various sources and was brought in for questioning by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division a while later.
