Gwyneth Paltrow has a clear rule when it comes to her career: she doesn’t read reviews.

The Oscar-winning actor shared her approach while appearing at the Los Angeles Times’ The Envelope 2025 Oscar Actresses Roundtable alongside Jennifer Lopez, Emily Blunt, Tessa Thompson, Elle Fanning and Sydney Sweeney.

“I try to never read anything about myself. Full stop. Ever. Period,” Gwyneth said plainly, explaining that avoiding outside opinions has become a firm rule for her.

Jennifer Lopez reacted with surprise, replying: “Wait, not anything about yourself? Ever? Period?” She added that while she also avoids reading film reviews, feedback often reaches her anyway.

Gwyneth admitted that despite her best efforts, she sometimes still comes across comments about herself. That prompted Jennifer to joke: “And you want to die.”

“Want to die!” Gwyneth agreed, laughing, before explaining how damaging negative coverage can feel. “Like when someone forwards you a link to something really horrible about yourself, and they’re like, ‘Oh, this is b*******. I do try to avoid [that kind of stuff].”

As part of protecting her mental health, Gwyneth revealed she has stepped back from social media entirely, adding: “I deleted Instagram.”
