Coldplay kiss cam woman responds to backlash, says she took 'accountability'
The duo was spotted at the Coldplay concert and caught on camera while kissing during the stadium’s kiss cam
Kristin Cabot, the former head of human resources at tech firm Astronomer, has broken her silence months after a viral “kiss cam” moment at a Coldplay concert.
This is Cabot's first interview since the incident. She said the July 16 concert appearance with then-CEO Andy Byron was the biggest mistake of her life.
“I made a bad decision,” Cabot told The New York Times, acknowledging she had been drinking and behaved inappropriately with her boss.
“I took accountability, and I gave up my career for that.”
For those unfamiliar, the couple was spotted at a Coldplay concert and caught on camera kissing during the stadium’s kiss cam at Gillette Stadium near Boston.
Prompting Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to joke from the stage that they might be having an affair.
The clip spread rapidly online, amassing more than 100 million views and becoming known as “#coldplaygate.”
Within days, Byron resigned. Astronomer later said its leadership had failed to meet company standards.
Cabot said both she and Byron were in marital separations at the time, though Byron has never commented publicly.
She denied having an affair with Byron and said the concert marked the only time they kissed.
“What I hope for isn’t forgiveness from the internet,” Cabot said, “but understanding, especially for my kids.”
