Wiz Khalifa lands in legal trouble over weed possession

Wiz Khalifa recently landed in the legal trouble in Romania over possession of weed.

According to the Rolling Stone, the 38-year=old rapper has been sentenced nine months in prison after the he allegedly smoked weed on stage last year.

The American rapper, whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, was detained and charged with illegal drug possession after consuming a joint while performing at a festival in Costinești in July 2024.

The Black and Yellow hitmaker, however, was released soon after and also apologised on X, writing, “I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage.”

The prosecutors in Romania still, pursued a case against him, with an initial ruling by the Constanța Tribunal imposing a 3,000 lei fine that is about $690.

Eventually, they won the appeal, leading to a 9-month prison sentence for cannabis possession and consumption.

Consequently, Wiz Khalifa was sentenced to nine months in prison. It’s unclear if Romanian authorities will try to bring the rapper, who is currently in the United States, back to the country.

For the unversed, Romania has strict laws around the use of cannabis, which remains illegal for both recreational and medical use.
