Microsoft has confirmed widespread service disruptions affecting Microsoft Teams, with users across the globe reporting delays in sending and receiving messages along with other functionality problems.

The outage began at around 2:30pm ET and quickly spread across multiple regions, including the United States and Europe.

Thousands of users flagged issues, saying chat messages were arriving several minutes late or failing to send altogether.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Microsoft said it was actively investigating the problem and would share updates as more information becomes available.

The company acknowledged that users may be experiencing messaging delays and disruptions to other Teams services.

According to Microsoft, early telemetry data shows signs of gradual recovery, but engineers are continuing their analysis to understand which scenarios are most affected and what caused the outage.

The issue impacted all Teams clients, including the Windows desktop app as well as mobile versions on smartphones and tablets.

While the exact cause of the disruption remains unclear, user frustration has been evident across social media platforms.

Several users reported delays ranging from one to ten minutes, while others said features such as meeting recordings were unreliable during the outage.

“Teams chat and recording meetings are iffy tonight,” one user wrote, noting persistent lag in message delivery. Others echoed similar complaints, describing the service as unstable throughout the evening.

Some users took a lighter tone online, joking about Teams having a “down day,” while others expressed irritation over work interruptions.
