Chicago Police urges to remain cautious following robberies tied to meetups arranged through Facebook Marketplace
Chicago Police Department are urging residents to remain cautious following a series of armed robberies tied to meetups arranged through Facebook Marketplace in the Morgan Park neighborhood on Chicago’s Far South Side.
Authorities noted that six separate incidents were reported in December 2025, all occurring in Morgan Park.
The robberies took place on the 1700 block of West Steuben on December 3 at 1:30pm, the 1700 block of West Edmaire on December 4 at 4:15pm, and twice on the 11300 block of South Davol on December 10 at 1:37pm and 3:49pm.
Moreover, two incidents occurred on December 18 on the 1600 block of West Monterey at 5:20pm and the 11000 block of South Ashland at 8:17pm.
In each case, investigators noted thatthe suspect responded to Marketplace listings advertising Nike or Jordan brand gym shoes.
During the in-person exchanges, the suspect allegedly produced a firearm and robbed the victims of the shoes.
Police noted that in two of the incidents, a second suspect also brandished a gun.
Authorities said the same Facebook account, operating under the name “Serving Best Deals,” was used in all six robberies.
