Kate Hudson said she has no regrets for turning down the role of Mary Jane Watson in the original installment of the famous franchise, Spider-Man.

The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen this Monday.

She stated that she was offered the role that Kirsten Dunst later took on in the franchise from the early 2000s.

“Looking back, I think, that would’ve been nice to be in the Spider-Man movie,” Hudson said. “But at the same time, I believe life happens exactly the way it’s supposed to.”

Hudson explained that she chose The Four Feathers over Spider-Man in 2002, a decision that led to a close friendship with co-star Heath Ledger.

“I got an experience I never would have had otherwise,” she said. “So I’m grateful.”

When reminded the role extended beyond a single film, Hudson acknowledged the scale of what she passed on, responding with a smile: “I know.”

Hudson added that revisiting casting decisions is complicated.

“The people who are in the movie are the right people,” she said. “Your circumstances in life happen the way they happen.”

Spider-Man went on to earn more than $800 million worldwide, while The Four Feathers had a modest box office run.
