Paul Rudd calls Jack Black ‘hero of mine’ as duo lead 'Anaconda' reboot

Paul Rudd says working with Jack Black on Anaconda felt personal.
While speaking with People, the actor praised his co-star and said, “Every once in a while something will happen where I’m afforded the opportunity to get to work with a hero of mine,” referring to Black. “It happened on this one.”
The Ant-Man and The Wasp actor also appreciated the cast dynamic, saying, “It’s the people, really.” He further added, turning to the black side, “You gave everybody a bit of a Jack Black experience.”
Thus, Black also agreed that the project hit close to home. “In a way, we are playing ourselves,” he said.
“It was very close to home. These are friends going out to make their dreams come true.”
Though the pair previously appeared briefly together in Anchorman and Walk Hard, Anaconda marks their first time sharing lead roles.
“I really got to see him in action,” Rudd said. “No matter who it was, especially kids, Jack is such a good dude. It was inspiring.”
Anaconda will be released in theaters on December 25, 2025.
