Meghan Markle, Prince Harry's unexpected appearance at major event
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended the Sundance Film Festival for first time
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their debut appearance at the Sundance Film Festival as they attended in anticipation of their new documentary.
Their documentary, Cookie Queens, was featured at the festival with an exclusive screening on Saturday.
Harry and Meghan took on roles as executive producers for the documentary, which portrays the journey of four Girl Scouts during the cookie-selling season.
This 91-minute film provides an insider's view on aspiration, collaboration, and coming of age.
The film was helmed by director Alysa Nahmias and co-produced in conjunction with Archewell Productions, Beautiful Stories, and AJNA Films.
The project resonates deeply with Meghan, having been a Girl Scout during her childhood in California.
This appearance follows closely after Harry's response to US President Donald Trump over comments he made about UK soldiers who served in Afghanistan.
Harry issued a statement after Mr. Trump commented in a Fox News interview that Nato troops “stayed a little off the front lines” of the conflict, while suggesting the US “never needed” its allies, even as the collective defense clause was invoked post-9/11.
The prince, who completed two frontline tours in Afghanistan, stated Friday that the British soldiers’ sacrifices “warrant being talked about with honesty and honour."
In his statement, Harry remarked: “In 2001, Nato invoked Article 5 for the first, and only, occasion in history.
"It signified that all allied nations needed to stand with the United States in Afghanistan, for the sake of our mutual security. Allies heeded the call.
"Children found themselves without a parent. Families bear the ongoing cost.
"Such sacrifices ought to be acknowledged sincerely and with respect, as we continue to stand together in loyalty toward the defense of diplomacy and peace.”
