Kaley Cuoco comments on Ashley Tisdale's 'toxic' mom group drama
Kaley Cuoco is latest celebrity to comment on controversy involving the 'High School Musical' star
Kaley Cuoco is the latest celebrity to comment on the controversy involving Ashley Tisdale French and her "toxic" mom group.
While appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday (February 5), to promote her newest series, Vanished, the 40-year-old actress responded to a fan's inquiry about the drama, given she has her own mom group.
Shaking her head and closing her eyes, Cuoco — who parents daughter Matilda, 2, with her fiancé, Tom Pelphrey — commented, “If you don’t enjoy a group, just move on, darling.”
“Right?” Host Andy Cohen chimed in.
“I don't think we need to discuss it,” Cuoco said, as Cohen, 57, added, “Like, pen an article about it.”
“No need to go that route,” Cuoco remarked with a grin. “Just leave … seek a new group.”
“Find a different circle,” added the other guest, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne.
"Exactly," Cuoco concurred.
The Flight Attendant actress's remarks follow an expression of gratitude from a member of her own mom group for their “supportive” bond after Tisdale French’s trending essay for The Cut, titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group” last month.
In the days after the piece gained attention, actress Ashley Jones posted on Instagram, subsequently deleting, highlighting her celebrity friends such as Cuoco, Lacey Chabert, Kimberley J. Brown, and Ali Fedotowsky.
"Mom groups are front and center on the web this week," Jones noted alongside a series of photos of the women and their children. "Shoutout to my community; without them, I'd feel lost and alone."
"Tag your loyal and supportive mom friends! I miss them all dearly, but I’m grateful we had each other during these times and beyond," she continued. "#lifteachother #womensupportingwomen **not everyone is pictured, but all who are are cherished #momgroup."
In her essay, Tisdale French mentioned that being part of her group felt like dealing with “mean” girls and that it was “too reminiscent of high school for her to stay.
Tisdale French has two daughters, Jupiter Iris, 4, and Emerson Clover, 1, with her husband, musician Christopher French.
Even though the High School Musical star didn’t specify which women from her previous mom group were mentioned in her essay, fans quickly speculated she might have referred to a group that included Gaby Dalkin, Hilary Duff, Meghan Trainor, Mandy Moore and others.
