Camelot films launches sales arm and teases The Awakening 2
The Malta-based producer is expanding fast ahead of EFM, with new projects and a sequel in motion
Malta-based production company Camelot Films is stepping up its global ambitions with the launch of a dedicated sales division and in-house financing arm, timed ahead of the European Film Market in Berlin.
The move also signals a broader expansion of its Malta-based production services as the company looks to consolidate development, financing, production and sales under one roof.
Camelot’s new sales slate spans scripted, unscripted and documentary content, including the recently completed eight-part series Psychedelic Adventures, action-thriller feature X-Killers, sports-driven reality show Battle of the Beasts and documentary Built for the Unknown, which follows extreme adventurer Ash Dykes.
The company has already secured notable deals, selling House of Streams and Psychopath Life Coach to Netflix, and partnering with Tubi for U.S. distribution.
Sales operations will be led internally by a team including producer Luke Croft-Faulkner, sales associate Elias Segal, Pinewood Studios producer Tim Kent and Camelot CEO Matt Hookings, all of whom will attend EFM.
On the feature front, Camelot is backing The Awakening, starring Peter Stormare and Alice Eve, with sales handled by Noora Films. A sequel, The Awakening 2, is already in development, with Halo director Roel Reiné attached and production expected to take place in Malta later this year.
CEO Matt Hookings said the expansion reflects Camelot’s long-term strategy, noting the company has generated more than $150 million in production spend in Malta since 2019.
Chairman Adrian Goodisman added that the move reinforces Malta’s growing appeal as a full-service production hub for independent filmmaking.
