Rosé says she’s still learning to feel comfortable in her own skin
The BLACKPINK singer calls confidence 'ongoing work' and shares daily strategies
BLACKPINK superstar Rosé is candid about the ongoing journey of building self-confidence, even as she celebrates a decade in the K-pop powerhouse group.
The 29-year-old singer, who has also achieved solo success, told CR Fashion Book that while she feels more comfortable now than in her early twenties, she’s “not fully there yet.”
“At 29, I haven't mastered feeling completely comfortable in my own skin, but I'm definitely better at it than I was years ago,” Rosé said.
She added that confidence is a continuous process. “Even when I feel very confident, my mind is constantly evolving and finding new challenges. It's ongoing work. But I'm learning little tricks, small ways to understand how my brain works.”
Reflecting on BLACKPINK’s milestone, Rosé expressed pride in the group’s decade-long journey in the music industry.
“A few years ago, I would say, ‘It's already been that many years.’ But now I really feel the decade. We've been through so much. I'm grateful for those years,” she said.
Rosé also emphasized the importance of balance. “In the past, I would focus only on the performing, working version of myself and neglect the others. But I've learned that if I want everything to function well, I need to take care of every part of me, and I'm still learning how to do it.”
The singer highlighted her strong work ethic as a driving force. “I’m proud of my work ethic. I don’t think I give it enough appreciation because it feels very natural to me. But it’s what drives me to do so many things and still have fun while doing this work,” she shared.
Despite her global fame, Rosé admitted she sometimes dreams of anonymity, which she equates with freedom.
“What does freedom look like to me? Freedom means being anonymous,” she told Dazed magazine last year.
