Maggie Baird combines cooking and climate action in upcoming lifestyle series
The show will feature Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell sharing family-favorite recipes
Maggie Baird, mother of Grammy-winning artists Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, is taking her passion for sustainability to the screen.
Baird announced on Thursday that she will host a new lifestyle cooking series, Climate Kitchen, aimed at helping viewers make “planet-friendly” choices in both their kitchens and daily lives.
Part cooking show, part lifestyle series, and part docuseries, Climate Kitchen will feature Baird preparing plant-based recipes, sharing actionable sustainability tips, and spotlighting stories from the climate front lines.
Guests will include her children Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, who Baird said both love to cook, a fact she calls “so happy.”
“I’ve been looking for a show like this for many years and haven’t found one,” Baird told People exclusively. “People want to learn how to start making more planet-friendly choices in their homes, lifestyle, and especially in how they cook and eat.”
The series will explore how daily choices from food and lifestyle to waste and energy are linked to urgent issues such as chronic disease, food insecurity, and environmental justice.
According to Baird, the show emphasizes progress over perfection, demonstrating that small, simple behavior shifts can have lasting impact on personal health and the planet.
“Plant-based food is not the only solution to climate change, but there is no solution without it,” Baird said.
Climate Kitchen will also feature celebrity and expert guests, including O’Connell’s fiancée Claudia Sulewski, Martha Stewart, climate activist Xiye Bastida, longevity researcher Dan Buettner, Farmlink Project co-founder Aidan Reilly, and oceanographer Sylvia Earle.
Baird is co-creator, executive producer, and host of the show, which is produced in partnership with her nonprofit Support+Feed and public broadcasting station WETA.
Stephanie Soechtig and Kristin Lazure will direct the series, which is slated to begin production later this year with a 2027 premiere on broadcast and streaming platforms, including WETA’s Well Beings initiative.
“Living a more sustainable, earth-friendly lifestyle can seem overwhelming and expensive,” Baird said.
“Climate Kitchen is about embracing progress over perfection and showing how small changes can make a big difference.”
The series will also include a national campaign to promote individual sustainability efforts through events and educational materials.
Support+Feed has already distributed over 2.2 million plant-based meals and pantry items, along with cooking classes and recipe cards to teach people how to adopt more sustainable practices.
Baird, who has documented her family’s plant-based cooking for years, shared one of her daughter Billie’s favorite dishes: a spicy noodle and tofu soup.
“She puts enough chili flakes in it to heat up a room! It’s delicious,” Baird said.
Tom Chiodo, Executive Producer of Special Projects at WETA, called Baird “the Jane Goodall of sustainable living,” praising her approachable style.
“Maggie meets audiences where they are and helps them institute small, incremental changes that will make a difference for future generations,” he said.
