Tom Brady has addressed growing speculation about a potential return to the NFL, revealing that while he explored the idea, the league is not on board.

Speaking in a recent interview, the seven-time Super Bowl champion confirmed he had looked into the possibility of coming out of retirement again but acknowledged it’s unlikely to happen.

“I actually have inquired, and they don’t like that idea very much,” Brady said, referring to NFL officials. “We explored a lot of different things, and I’m very happily retired.”

Brady, who stepped away from professional football for the second time, explained that his current commitments—including his role as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and his broadcasting duties—make a return complicated.

Ownership rules in particular would present significant obstacles to rejoining the league as a player.

The 48-year-old reignited comeback rumors earlier this week after participating in a fan-focused flag football event, where he appeared in top form and even threw a touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs. The performance led Brady to tease fans on social media, writing, “Gets you thinking…”

However, the former quarterback clarified that the experience ultimately reinforced his decision to stay retired. “If anything, that game reconfirmed to me that I’m very happy in my retirement,” he said.

For now, Brady remains focused on his off-field roles, particularly with the Raiders, who hold the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

While he noted his position does not involve daily operational duties, he emphasized his commitment to supporting the franchise’s success.

“I want to see everyone succeed, be their best, bring a winning kind of a culture to Las Vegas,” Brady said. “I’d love to be a part of it.”

Despite continued speculation, Brady’s latest comments make it clear that another NFL comeback—while briefly considered—is not in the cards.
