The date for Savannah Guthrie's return to “Today” was disclosed in her heartfelt discussion with Hoda Kotb about her mother Nancy's disappearance.

Following the airing of Savannah and Kotb's conversation on the morning program Friday, Kotb and the other hosts announced that Savannah will be returning to the “Today” set on Monday (April 6).

“She is returning to the position she cherishes here at ‘Today,’” Kotb conveyed while seated alongside co-hosts Jenna Bush Hager, Dylan Dryer, Craig Melvin, and Al Roker.

“We are delighted to say that she'll be starting here, right next to this amazing person, Craig, on Monday, April 6,” Kotb continued.

Melvin remarked on Savannah, “She won’t let grief take over. Joy will be her stand. It’s where she belongs and where we want her to be.

“We eagerly await her welcome return with open arms here in Studio 1A.”

Melvin, who collaborates with Savannah on the initial two hours of “Today,” noted that “not a day has gone by” since Savannah took a break over seven weeks ago without fans asking him about her return.

Roker added, “And what’s lovely is how symbolic it is after Easter. I think as a family we'll support her together.”

Kotb, who has rejoined “Today” temporarily during Savannah’s absence despite stepping away from the network in January 2025, mentioned that the morning show serves as “a constant comfort” in Savannah’s life amid the “chaotic” circumstances she faces.

The Joy 101 creator also shared that Savannah’s return would bring “a delightful reunion” for the hosts.

During her chat with Kotb, Savannah confessed it was “difficult to envision” coming back to “Today,” given her mom Nancy's ongoing absence.

“I cannot return and pretend to be someone I’m not, yet not coming back isn’t an option since it feels like my purpose right now,” Savannah stated.

“I aim to smile and when I do, it'll be genuine. Joy will be my resistance and my answer, and being there brings joy, and if it doesn’t, I’ll express it.”

Savannah continued, “So I’m unsure if I can manage it. I don’t know if I’ll still fit in. But I want to give it a shot and I won’t be unchanged. But perhaps, like that old saying goes, ‘There’s beauty in our imperfections.’”

Savannah, 54, has not been on “Today” since Nancy, 84, disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona, residence on January 31.

The journalist also stepped away from covering the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy.
