Jenny McCarthy confirms 'it was definitely' Jim Carrey at César Awards
Actress Jenny McCarthy dismisses online conspiracy theories regarding Jim Carrey’s changed appearance
Jenny McCarthy has dismissed widespread internet conspiracy theories suggesting that an impersonator attended the César Awards in place of her former partner, Jim Carrey.
Speaking to People at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, the actress confirmed her belief that the man seen at the French ceremony in February was indeed the famous comedian.
McCarthy, who dated Carrey from 2005 to 2010, remarked that the first thing she noticed was how "happy" he appeared to be.
"He looked very happy at that award show. And I was happy for him," she stated, noting that his contented demeanour was far more significant than the physical changes that sparked the recent online speculation.
The Truman Show actor's appearance in Paris generated significant social media buzz, with some fans claiming his facial features and style had altered so drastically that he must have been replaced.
However, McCarthy’s husband, Donnie Wahlberg, pointed out that the obsession with aesthetics often overshadows a person's emotional well-being.
"We're so obsessed with how he looks that we didn't consider how happy he looked," Wahlberg added during the event.
This rare outing in February marked Carrey’s first major public appearance since November 2025, when he inducted the band Soundgarden into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Carrey has largely retreated from the Hollywood spotlight in recent years, focusing on his painting and occasional philanthropic efforts.
Despite the intense scrutiny surrounding his "new look," close friends and colleagues maintain that the 64-year-old artist is simply embracing a more relaxed and authentic phase of his life.
As the iHeartRadio Music Awards concluded in Los Angeles, McCarthy reiterated her support for Carrey’s apparent joy, regardless of the ongoing chatter regarding his physical transformation.
