A Florida resident who pulled over on the highway to assist a driver who had an accident was allegedly attacked before the suspect directed his aggression towards law enforcement, authorities report.

Daniel Coman, aged 44, faces charges of assault, destruction of property, and physical assault on a police officer.

According to a probable cause arrest report, officers from the Orange County Sheriff's Office were alerted just before 10am on March 30 to a vehicle accident on State Road 429 close to Seidel Road in Winter Garden, an Orlando suburb.

Upon arrival, deputies noticed a white Lexus collided with a guardrail. Hans Hamilton, a bystander, was beside a Tesla and reported that Coman assaulted him when he tried to offer help.

Coman appeared "visibly upset and angry," as stated in the report.

"Daniel was shouting at Hans and insulting him," the report declared. "I shouted for Daniel to halt so I could assist him, and he shouted back for me to be quiet and move away. Daniel commanded me to leave immediately, standing up aggressively towards me."

The suspect allegedly attempted to shove and hit the officer. The officer took Coman down to place him under arrest, but he reportedly continued resisting.

Hamilton, along with another witness, helped secure Coman with handcuffs. During the escort to the patrol car, Coman allegedly grabbed another officer inappropriately and kicked a third officer.

Hamilton recounted that he was passing by when he noticed the crashed Lexus and decided to stop to offer assistance.

He stated that Coman jumped on the hood of his Tesla and began stamping and kicking it, according to authorities.

Coman then reportedly attacked Hamilton, hitting him no less than 15 times. Hamilton experienced "intense pain" in his side and had cuts and bruises on his face.

The Tesla displayed a damaged windshield and dents on the hood and roof, according to police reports.

Hamilton shared his experience with local Fox affiliate WOFL regarding the ordeal.

Coman screamed, "I'm going to kill you! I'm going to kill you! And I believed him," Hamilton told the news channel. "His eyes looked terrifying, almost inhuman."

The suspect continued to be held in the Orange County Jail with a bond set at $5,000 as of Monday afternoon.
