Man arrested on international flight attempt in ex-wife's murder case
Man was charged with murder following discovery of woman’s body in Little River, Victoria, Australia
A man has been arrested concerning the alleged murder of his ex-wife while trying to board an international flight.
The 67-year-old was charged with murder on Saturday (April 4), following the discovery of a woman’s body in Little River, Victoria, Australia, according to a news release from Victoria Police.
Several sources have identified the man as Allan Keys, who was estranged from the victim, Eva Lasrini.
Authorities reported that Lasrini was apprehended at Melbourne Airport on Friday (April 3), while trying to embark on an international flight.
He was subsequently held by police and is facing a single murder charge, as confirmed by officials.
The day proceeding Lasrini's detention, officials received a report concerning a missing 53-year-old woman from Dandenong.
Authorities later established that the woman "had not been in touch with family as anticipated, and the circumstances appeared suspicious," prompting detectives from the Missing Persons Squad to initiate an inquiry.
They eventually located a woman’s body, the police indicated in their release. The body remains formally unverified, though it is suspected to be that of Lasrini.
The Sydney Morning Herald conveyed that Lasrini planned to visit her two daughters back home in Indonesia. She was reported missing when she didn't board the flight, according to the publication.
Lasrini's acquaintances recognised Keys as her "former partner," as reported by the Australian outlet.
According to 7 News, one of Lasrini's daughters published a missing persons alert online, noting that her mother was last active digitally around noon local time on April 1, with her phone being off since.
The outlet mentioned that Lasrini's daughter also shared on social media that her mother mentioned meeting her ex-husband.
Posts on social media, reviewed by 7 News, revealed that Lasrini and Keys had shared images and videos together from 2019 up until this March.
According to the outlet, Keys recently posted a picture of himself with another woman on social media, captioning it, "A new girlfriend, a new start!"
A post dated April 3, observed by 7 News, depicted Keys supposedly in Indonesia, though the police suspect it was fabricated.
7 News reported that the body believed to be Lasrini's was found approximately 50 miles from her residence. Keys is due to appear in court on August 10.
One of Lasrini's daughters has expressed to The Sydney Morning Herald that her mother possessed "a beautiful, innocent heart."
The victim reportedly confided to friends about enduring abuse in a previous relationship, as noted by The Sydney Morning Herald.
