Luke Bryan reunites with Make-A-Wish alum 11 years after cancer battle
Ashley chose to meet Luke Bryan in 2015 because his music brought joy
Country music superstar and American Idol judge Luke Bryan experienced a deeply moving "full-circle" moment on Monday.
Ahead of a live taping of the hit singing competition, the 47-year-old singer reunited with Ashley, a 28-year-old Make-A-Wish alumna.
The pair first met eleven years ago in 2015, while Ashley was undergoing treatment for chondrosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.
Ashley, who was 16 at the time of her diagnosis, chose to meet Bryan because his music was a source of comfort for her family.
The reunion, highlighted in an Instagram post by Make-A-Wish to mark World Wish Month, saw the two posing together outside the studio. Ashley recalled their initial meeting at Levi’s Stadium, noting: "He was so kind and so genuine and so sweet."
Recounting the moment he first spoke to her, she added: "I'll never forget. It was the meet-and-greet in the back and the first two words that Luke Bryan said to me were, 'Hey darlin'' and I'm not from the south so I enjoyed that very much."
Bryan surprised Ashley by walking up behind her during an interview, playfully asking: "Did we get you?" Reflecting on his long-term involvement with the charity, Bryan said: "I've been so blessed in my life that becoming a Wish-Maker has become a little way to give back and give smiles and pay thanks forward. It's really amazing to be in that scenario."
Having released numerous chart-topping hits, Bryan remains a dedicated advocate for youth health initiatives and philanthropic efforts.
