Tom Dumont shares health journey ahead of No Doubt residency at Sphere
Tom Dumont confirmed he has been diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson's disease
Tom Dumont, the longtime guitarist for the American rock band No Doubt, has revealed he is living with early-onset Parkinson's disease.
In a candid video shared via his official Instagram account, the 58-year-old musician explained that he sought medical advice after experiencing symptoms several years ago.
"I went to my doctor, I went to a neurologist, and I did a whole bunch of tests," he told followers, describing the neurodegenerative disorder as a daily struggle.
Despite the challenges posed by tremors and movement issues, Mr Dumont delivered a reassuring message to fans, confirming that he is still capable of performing and playing the guitar effectively.
The announcement comes as No Doubt prepares for a highly anticipated 18-show residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, scheduled to run from 6 May to 13 June.
This residency will mark a significant milestone for the band and lead singer Gwen Stefani, who will become the first female headliner at the venue.
Mr Dumont shared that the rehearsal process has been "very fun," involving the curation of archival footage and the development of immersive video content for the Sphere’s advanced screens.
He expressed profound gratitude for his career, citing the support of listeners and family over the decades.
Mr Dumont noted that he was inspired to speak publicly to help erase the stigma associated with the condition and to promote research and prevention.
"I’ve just been very inspired by other people who have come out to talk about their health issues on social media," he noted.
The band continues to focus on their upcoming performances, which celebrate their legacy in the alternative rock scene.
