Cameron Diaz reflects on 30 years of fame ahead of 'Outcome' release
'Outcome' streams April 10 on Apple TV+, starring Diaz, Reeves, Jonah Hill, and Matt Bomer
Cameron Diaz is taking a thoughtful look back at her three-decade journey in Hollywood.
The 53-year-old actress, who made her big-screen debut in 1994’s The Mask opposite Jim Carrey, returned to acting in 2025 with the Netflix action comedy Back in Action. Now, Diaz is starring alongside Keanu Reeves, Jonah Hill, and Matt Bomer in the Apple TV+ comedy Outcome, which begins streaming April 10.
“It’s a journey. I think it’s different for everybody. It’s been 30 some odd years,” Diaz told People.
“You kinda sit in, just like an old saddle. You’ve galloped in it, you’ve trotted in it, you’ve walked in it, and you kind of settle into it and find your rhythm. That’s just kind of how it works. It’s hard to explain, you know?”
In Outcome, Reeves plays Reef Hawk, a beloved Hollywood star facing a crisis after being threatened with a mysterious video that could destroy his career. Diaz and Bomer portray lifelong friends of Hawk, while Hill plays his crisis lawyer, Ira.
“I also think that this movie shows [fame] in a very interesting light and a very heightened light,” Diaz said. “Everybody thinks they want to be famous, but there is a cost to it. So it’s a cautionary comedy.”
The project marks Diaz’s second collaboration with Reeves after the 1996 film Feeling Minnesota and her second movie since her hiatus to focus on her family. Diaz shares two children with her husband, musician Benji Madden.
Outcome is just one of several projects Diaz has been developing. She is filming a yet-to-be-titled romantic comedy directed by Stephen Merchant and will star in Bad Day, an action-comedy about a single mother keeping a promise to her daughter amid chaos.
Additionally, she’s slated to reprise her voice role as Princess Fiona in Shrek 5 in 2027 and is developing a sequel to Troop Beverly Hills, potentially starring and producing.
Outcome streams on Apple TV+ starting April 10.
