Renowned singer and television host Meghan Trainor has candidly addressed the intense online scrutiny she faced after welcoming her third child, Mikey Moon, via a surrogate in January 2026.

Appearing on the Not Gonna Lie podcast, the 32-year-old pop star revealed that the backlash left her in a "cloud of tears" nearly every night.

Trainor, who has also been the subject of public commentary regarding a recent weight-loss transformation, admitted she anticipated negative reactions but was still deeply affected by the personal nature of the attacks.

The "Me Too" hitmaker explained that the decision to use a surrogate was a "heartbreaking" necessity driven by serious health concerns.

Trainor disclosed that she had been struggling with medical issues that were bordering on an autoimmune disease, leading her and husband Daryl Sabara to conclude that surrogacy was the safest path for their family.

"I want my daughter to come to this world and not everyone attack her for the way she got here," Trainor shared, expressing her fears for her newborn's future in the digital spotlight.

Despite the negativity, Trainor credited her support system—including her therapist, her management team, and her husband—for helping her navigate the emotional turmoil.

Sabara, who has been married to the singer since 2018, has been a vocal defender of their family's choices as they raise Mikey Moon alongside their older sons, five-year-old Riley and two-year-old Barry.

The couple originally announced the birth with a tribute to their "incredible, superwoman surrogate," emphasising that they are "over the moon" with the new addition to their family despite the public discourse.
