Michael B. Jordan teases ‘Thomas Crown Affair’ at CinemaCon
Michael B. Jordan revealed an exclusive preview of the film during Amazon MGM's announcement
Michael B. Jordan, both the director and lead of The Thomas Crown Affair, unveiled an exclusive preview of the film as Amazon MGM revealed that Jon Batiste, winner of Oscars, BAFTA, Golden Globes, and eight Grammy Awards, is crafting the score.
In a captivating moment, Batiste commenced the studio’s CinemaCon event with a live piano rendition of The Windmills of Your Mind, the Oscar-winning tune from the classic 1968 film.
Jordan appeared on stage alongside his co-star, Adria Arjona, who portrays an insurance investigator savvy enough to match wits with the charming art thief.
The film, reimagined for modern audiences and slated for a March 5, 2027 debut, also includes performances by Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart.
The original storyline featured a wealthy playboy engaged in art theft. In the 1968 classic starring Steve McQueen alongside Faye Dunaway, he sparred with an insurance investigator.
The 1999 rendition with Pierce Brosnan saw him challenged by Rene Russo’s detective character.
Details on Jordan’s adaptation remain secretive, but today’s footage highlighted the thrilling interplay between the leads as their romance blossoms amidst grand museums, sleek cities, and European castles. Jordan scales heights, sails through the sky.
He expressed a desire to add his unique touch to this version — “capturing style, rebellion, while endowing him with a genuine mission. I required an actress able to embody both strength and vulnerability. She gets his game yet falls for him.”
His quest in the movie is deeply personal. “Revenge is an art form,” is one of the film’s taglines. Kevin Branagh portrays his target.
The screenplay, penned by Drew Pearce and Jason Hall, is derived from a story by Alan R. Trustman, the original 1968 screenplay writer starring Steve McQueen. Executive producers include Jason Hall, Alan R. Trustman, and H.H. Cooper.
This production is led by Outlier Society’s Michael B. Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo, alongside Toberoff Productions’ Marc Toberoff, Patrick McCormick, and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven.
Renowned for breaking musical boundaries and fostering inclusivity and cultural discovery, Batiste recently clinched the Grammy for Best Americana Album with his latest release, Big Money.
