Katherine LaNasa provides a humorous reason why her spouse can't join The Pitt.

The 59-year-old actress shares why her partner, actor Grant Show, is not featured in the hit drama during a chat with PEOPLE at the show's second season premiere in Los Angeles this past January.

“He’s just too good-looking for the show,” remarks LaNasa, who takes on the role of nurse Dana Evans.

“Maybe he could be some kind of charming surgeon or something,” LaNasa jests.

LaNasa and Show, 64, first crossed paths while working together on HBO's Big Love in 2006.

They have also appeared together in projects like Satisfaction, Devious Maids and Dynasty.

The duo wed in August 2012. They are parents to a daughter, Eloise Show, born in 2014.

Additionally, LaNasa is mother to son Henry Hopper, whom she had with the late actor Dennis Hopper.

“He was still somewhat of a wild one when I got to know him,” the actress explains. “I thought, ‘I’m not so sure about this man.’ I found him very appealing, but I wasn’t in the mood for drama at that stage. I was in my early 40s.”

“However, he managed to win me over and I’m thankful for that. He’s an amazing person, husband, and father, and I’m truly grateful to be with him,” she adds.

Last September, LaNasa gave an affectionate nod to her husband and children when she received the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series during the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards for her part in The Pitt.

LaNasa expressed gratitude to "my kids for keeping me grounded, and my lovely husband Grant Show for always being my support."

Several actors in the medical drama’s second season have had their partners make guest appearances. Noah Wyle’s wife Sarah Wyle and Patrick Ball’s girlfriend Elysia Roorbach both appeared as patients in the ER.

The ongoing season follows the workers at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center throughout a 15-hour shift during Independence Day.

LaNasa talked to PEOPLE before the January 8 premiere of season 2 about her character’s mentorship role towards a new nursing graduate Emma, played by newcomer Laëtitia Hollard.

She shared that Dana’s nurturing behavior towards Emma is a response to being hit by an irate patient in the first season.

Both seasons 1 and 2 of "The Pitt" are ready to watch on HBO Max.
