  • Sully Sullivan was written off by moving to Ireland at the end of season three
  • The actor is currently touring with his band while filming several new movie projects

Fans of the hit drama Sullivan's Crossing will notice a significant absence when season four premiered on the CW on Monday.

Scott Patterson, who has portrayed the central character Harry "Sully" Sullivan since the show’s inception in 2023, has officially exited the series

The departure of the Gilmore Girls veteran follows a season three finale that saw his character depart for Ireland.

Showrunner Roma Roth initially suggested that the exit was a narrative decision, explaining that the new season picks up with Sully still overseas supporting his girlfriend, Helen Culver.

However, Patterson offered a more direct explanation in a statement shared via Facebook, revealing that "creative differences were becoming untenable."

He expressed that while he "fell in love with Sully," he reached a point where he could no longer agree to continue with the production's direction.

Patterson also hit back at implications that the creative team had "moved on" from him, asserting that the reality was the complete opposite.

The cast has begun to address the shift, with lead actress Morgan Kohan noting that her character, Maggie, is left feeling unsupported as she takes over the Crossing.

Co-star Chad Michael Murray added that while Patterson is not physically on-screen, the foundation Sully built remains the core of the show.

Despite leaving the series, Patterson remains active in the industry. He is currently involved in several film projects, including The Sons of Summer and Liberty.

Additionally, the actor is focusing on his musical career, touring the United States with his band's "The Midnight Highway Tour" throughout 2026.
