Connor Storrie and Lilly Krug's sci-fi 'April X' secures US theatrical release
This is the first film starring Storrie since success of his worldwide TV hit, 'Heated Rivalry'
The psychological sci-fi thriller April X, with lead roles by Connor Storrie (Heated Rivalry) and Lilly Krug (Plane), has secured distribution in America and a range of international locations.
In this near-future thriller, the story focuses on twins Bax and April. When April vanishes, Bax searches the shadowy alleys of the post-Soviet urban landscape to find her, ultimately leading him into insanity.
This is the first film starring Storrie since the success of his worldwide TV hit, Heated Rivalry.
Directed by Michel K. Parandi and produced by Lavinia Postolache under the U.S. banner Lavi Star, international sales negotiations were handled by Italy’s Iuvit Media Sales, which will continue securing deals at the Cannes market.
Sunrise Films and Rialto Distribution—both of which have recently added to their American film portfolios—have teamed up to distribute the film in North America and plan a theatrical launch across more than 500 venues in late September 2026.
The film has also guaranteed international distribution in the UK & Ireland (Vertigo Releasing), Germany, Switzerland & Austria (Tiberius Film), Eastern Europe (Magnetes Pictures), French-language regions (Hausmann Media), South Korea (Jaye Entertainment), Australia & New Zealand (Rialto Distribution), and India & SAARC (Lionsgate Play).
A representative from Iuvit Media Sales stated: “We are delighted with the positive reception April X has garnered from global buyers. The film's distinct tone and international appeal make it an intriguing offering, and we're honored to link up with strong distributors in essential markets.”
Andrew Nerger from Sunrise Films remarked: “We are thrilled to present Connor Storrie’s compelling sci-fi thriller April X to theaters throughout the United States and Canada. The movie offers a high-concept, exhilarating journey that combines advanced, cyberpunk world-building with intense suspense, driven by Storrie’s captivating performance at its heart.”
Sunrise Films is the production, distribution, and sales company founded by Vertigo Releasing pair Rupert Preston and Nigel Williams.
Recent productions include the Tim Blake Nelson boxing drama Bang Bang, the soccer narrative Saipan starring Steve Coogan, and the prison thriller Wasteman featuring David Jonsson and Tom Blyth.
