Zara Larsson has opened up about a teenage incident in which she kissed her best friend’s boyfriend, describing the moment as a “weird, unforgivable mistake” that ultimately cost her several friendships.

Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the 28-year-old pop star said the situation unfolded when she was 16 years old at a New Year’s Eve party, where she had been drinking and found herself in an unexpected situation.

“I just kissed him back because I was messy like that. And I was 16 and really drunk,” Larsson said, reflecting on the incident.

She explained that the situation escalated when another partygoer secretly filmed the kiss and sent the video to her friend before she had a chance to explain what had happened.

“The f***ed up thing about this was that the girl whose house we had the party at, she filmed this,” Larsson said. “So before I got the chance to tell my friend, she had already got the video sent to her.”

The singer said the fallout was immediate and severe, with her friend and wider social circle cutting ties with her after seeing the footage.

“She just cut me off, and all my friends just cut me off,” she said, adding that she felt like “a floating piece of trash in the universe” at the time.

Larsson clarified that she was not romantically interested in the boy involved, emphasizing that the incident was a one-time mistake during her teenage years.

Despite the painful experience, the singer has since built a successful international music career and is now preparing to join Tate McRae as an opening act on her upcoming Miss Possessive Tour.

Larsson has previously spoken positively about McRae, praising her work ethic, performance skills, and dedication to dance, saying she finds her “inspiring” as an artist.
