Offset returns to stage days after shooting, calls recovery a ‘blessing’
The rapper confirmed he was hit in the hip outside a Florida casino
Offset has said he feels “blessed” to still be able to walk and continue working after being shot in the hip earlier this month, stressing that he does not want sympathy as he focuses on recovery and moving forward.
The 34-year-old rapper was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries on April 6 after being struck by a bullet outside the Hard Rock Hollywood casino in Seminole, Florida.
In a later appearance on the Creators Inc. Podcast, recorded just six days after the incident, he confirmed he had been hit in the hip.
“I was blessed enough to be able to still move. So, I’m still moving,” Offset said, adding that he intends to keep working despite the ordeal. “The show don’t ever stop at the end of the day.”
He also dismissed speculation about the severity of his injuries, confirming simply: “I just got hit in my hip.”
During the podcast recording, Offset was seen receiving a vitamin IV drip, but he remained firm that he did not want public sympathy.
“The grind don’t stop, bro. I don’t want nobody to feel sorry for me,” he said. “I’m blessed. I can keep pushing, so why would I just sit down?”
Despite the shooting, Offset quickly returned to the stage on April 11, performing at Rowfest at the University of Arkansas just days after being discharged from hospital.
Video shared on Instagram showed him initially appearing in a wheelchair before standing to perform as fans cheered.
The rapper, also known as Kiari Kendrell Cephus, performed while wearing a skeleton-style face mask, with a throne-like chair placed nearby in case he needed to rest during the set.
Following the incident, his mother publicly praised his resilience, calling him a “walking miracle” and crediting faith and divine protection for his rapid return to performing.
Offset also addressed fans directly on social media, thanking them for their support and saying he is focused on recovery, family, and music as he moves forward.
“Life’s a gamble and I’m still playing to win,” he wrote, reflecting on the experience.
