An intoxicated Washington state woman sped through a stop sign and collided with a father on a motorcycle trip with his son and the son's friend, sending him flying to his death, according to authorities and family members.

"His motorcycle exploded," shared 18-year-old Harley Ryder — who was riding behind his father Dusty Ryder — during an interview with the The Spokesman-Review.

"He was lying on the ground covered in blood," Harley Ryder recalled. "A silver vehicle sped through the intersection and hit him."

Keainna Cox, 37, faces charges of vehicular homicide, failure to remain at the scene of a fatal accident, and driving with a suspended license in relation to the April 18 accident, as per court documents.

Authorities and prosecutors claim Cox was under the influence of alcohol when she collided with Dusty Ryder near West Indiana Avenue and North Atlantic Street in Spokane.

The father of four, who recently married in October 2025, was riding with Harley and a friend when Cox reportedly struck and killed him in front of them.

A witness informed the Spokesman-Review that she was in a vehicle behind the group when she observed Cox allegedly hit Dusty Ryder's motorcycle. "It instantly burst into flames,” the witness recounted, adding she and another passenger called 911.

"She shattered our world," Dusty Ryder's mother, Shelli Oliver, expressed to the Spokesman-Review. "Family meant everything to him."

A GoFundMe set up for Dusty Ryder's family states Cox "recklessly tore Dusty from his family through her impaired driving."

Police claim Cox was driving a Mitsubishi Outlander and was speeding at the time of the accident.

She attempted to escape the scene but was stopped one block away, according to police.

Cox allegedly contended that she had fully stopped at the stop sign and that Dusty Ryder collided with her as she moved past it.

A Washington State Patrol drug recognition expert assessed Cox at a local hospital and reportedly determined she was impaired by alcohol and central nervous system depressants, according to police.

A Spokane County judge set Cox's bail at $250,000 and scheduled a trial date for June after she entered a not guilty plea last week.

"We are prepared for the long battle," the Ryder family's GoFundMe states regarding the not guilty plea and the likelihood of Cox's case heading to trial. "We will not rest until justice is done!"
