It seems that Amanda Abbington’s fiancé, Jonathan Goodman, has been offered a significant sum in compensation by America’s Got Talent after experiencing a tragic accident on the show that has left him in a wheelchair.

The stuntman was participating in the extreme version of the show in 2021 when he was trapped between two cars, which caught fire during his performance.

He subsequently filed a lawsuit against Fremantle, the production company, and the broadcaster, NBCU.

According to the Daily Mail, Jonathan has now resolved the case and has been “offered millions” as a settlement for the near-fatal accident.

The report also states that the case has been dismissed ‘with prejudice,’ which means it cannot be reopened in court.

It was noted that the agreement was reached between the parties last month.

Nicole Anderson, Jonathan’s attorney, stated: “The details of the settlement are confidential, and neither we nor our client can discuss further.”

Efforts have been made to get a comment from Fremantle and NBCU.

The incident took place during a rehearsal for the America’s Got Talent series, where Jonathan was suspended 70 feet in the air, hanging from a rope, with cars swinging beside him.

He seemed to attempt to climb the rope before the cars collided, causing the rope to give way, resulting in him being caught between the vehicles.

An explosion followed the collision, leaving the performer severely injured, with multiple fractures and burns on his body.

The stunt performer was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

He has since embarked on a new career as a hypnotherapist, assisting people with challenges like anxiety and sleeplessness.

Jonathan and actress Amanda went on their first date just three months before the incident.

The couple first made contact online long before they met in person and became engaged during their first date, just half an hour after meeting face-to-face.

Amanda was formerly married to Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman for 16 years, until their separation in 2016.

They have two children together; Joe, 19, and Grace, 17.
