Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt have ended their relationship just five months after becoming parents together. The former couple welcomed their first child, daughter Scottie Rose, in December 2025, making the split all the more sudden in the eyes of those close to them.
Co-parenting tensions at the heart of the breakup
Following reports of the separation, insiders have disclosed that Davidson and Hewitt are currently finding it difficult to adjust to life as co-parents.
A source told People Magazine that the pair would "like to be friends" in the wake of the breakup, but acknowledged that it is reportedly "difficult to think about getting to that place right now."
The same source added plainly: "They're not getting along right now."
According to those familiar with the situation, tensions between the pair had begun to surface even before Scottie Rose arrived.
"They were already struggling a bit while Elsie was pregnant. Things just happened so quickly between them and they didn't know each other very well," the source revealed.
Working through how to raise Scottie Rose
Despite the difficulties, Davidson and Hewitt are said to be actively "trying to work through" the practicalities of co-parenting their daughter.
Sources also noted that Hewitt has not placed any obstacles in the way of the Saturday Night Live alumnus spending time with their child.
"Ultimately they'd like to be friends and do things together, but it's difficult to think about getting to that place right now," an insider said, adding: "He's a softie and he does want to be with the woman he has a child with. It's not totally out of the question. The split was mutual."

Davidson and Hewitt were first romantically linked in March 2025, with the pregnancy announcement following in July 2025 — a timeline that insiders suggest left little room for the couple to truly establish a firm foundation before parenthood arrived.
Davidson's earlier praise for Hewitt as a mother
Despite the current difficulties, Davidson had spoken warmly about both fatherhood and Hewitt in an interview with the outlet as recently as March.
"Dad life is f------ awesome," he said at the time, adding: "It is exhausting and rewarding and cute. And I'm very lucky because Elsie is a fantastic mom, and I can't stress enough how lucky I am."
