John Krasinski says he and Emily Blunt always put kids and family ahead of careers
Krasinski and Blunt, who wed in 2010, share two daughters — Hazel, aged 11, and Violet, aged 9
John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are challenging the conventions of Hollywood stardom by placing their children firmly at the centre of their lives, ahead of their respective acting careers.
The 46-year-old actor made the revelation during an appearance on CBS Mornings, where he was asked how he and his wife manage to balance two high-profile careers with the demands of raising their two daughters.
"Honestly, the simple answer is 'kids and family first.' We always have done, luckily, a good job of doing one [movie] and then the next [one]. So one of us is always home with the kids," Krasinski said.
A family circus on every film set
The Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan alumnus went on to explain that the couple's approach also involves bringing their daughters along to wherever they happen to be on location.
"We bring those kids wherever we're shooting and wherever we can spend time with them. So we shot all of this in New York, A Quiet Place is in New York, and Jack Ryan was over in London," he said.
"They came over in London with us. It's a circus! It's a family circus!" the actor added.
A decade of marriage and two daughters
Krasinski and Blunt wed in 2010 and together have two daughters — Hazel, aged 11, and Violet, aged 9. The couple have long been regarded as one of Hollywood's most grounded partnerships, with their commitment to co-parenting at the forefront of how they structure their professional lives.
Daughters more taken with mum's career
In a further candid admission, Krasinski — known for his role in Jack Ryan: Ghost War — recently revealed that his daughters are considerably more impressed by their mother's acting work than by his own.
He acknowledged with good humour that, in the eyes of Hazel and Violet, Emily is decisively the cooler parent.
