Tricia Helfer explains decision to join OnlyFans: 'I’m in control of it'
The actress described this stage of her life as her 'do what I want' era
Tricia Helfer has revealed she has launched an OnlyFans account, saying the move is part of a personal and creative shift where she is embracing more control, freedom, and self-expression in her career.
The Battlestar Galactica star, 52, said she created the subscription-based page last month and views it as a platform where she can decide exactly what she shares and how she presents herself.
Speaking to People, Helfer said she is currently in what she describes as her “do what I want” phase of life, adding that she is no longer interested in being dictated to about her creative choices.
“I’m tired of being told what to do and how to do it,” she said. “I’m looking at it as something to have fun with and something that I can be in control of.”
Helfer explained that her content will include a mix of professionally shot images, self-made photos and videos, as well as more casual, personal moments from her daily life.
She also plans to include livestream Q&A sessions for subscribers.
The actress, who began her career as a model before transitioning into acting with roles in shows such as Lucifer, said the platform allows her to stay aligned with her personal brand while exploring a more expressive side.
“It’ll be a mix of artistic shots with great photographers and pictures and videos of quiet and silly time at home feeding my goats or weeding my garden,” she said, adding that she recently posted a playful image of herself gardening in a bikini.
Helfer admitted she enjoys pushing boundaries and “shocking a little bit,” acknowledging that some of her content might surprise even her family.
“Would I shock my parents with the images? Probably,” she said. “But they saw me in Playboy, and they appreciated why I had done it.”
Despite the bold nature of the move, the actress said she has been “pleasantly surprised” by the largely supportive response from fans since launching the page.
She also acknowledged that while some concerns have been raised, she insists the decision remains entirely under her control.
“I’m not saying there shouldn’t be concern,” she said. “But I tell them, ‘I’m in control of it. I can shut it down whenever I want.’”
Helfer added that while she is experimenting with new boundaries creatively, every decision ultimately comes down to her own comfort level and willingness to share.
