Marco Perego praises wife Zoe Saldaña while teasing upcoming joint movie project
The filmmaker said he is inspired by her emotional honesty and artistic 'truth'
Marco Perego has praised his wife Zoe Saldaña as “one of the best actors of her generation” as the couple prepares to collaborate on an upcoming film project together.
Speaking in a recent interview following the success of his producing work at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, the 47-year-old filmmaker reflected on both his professional journey and his creative partnership with Saldaña.
Perego, who has been married to Saldaña since 2013 and shares three children with her, said he continues to learn from her approach to acting, particularly her commitment to emotional honesty on screen.
“For me, Zoe is, without any doubts, one of the best actors of her generation,” he said. “I'm trying to spy every secret [from her] as possible.”
He added that what stands out most about Saldaña’s craft is her ability to embody “truth” in her performances, describing it as a quality he deeply admires as an artist himself.
“There is one quality I admire so much… that honesty, you know? The essence of purity,” Perego said.
“She’s not afraid to go to that place, and she’s unconventional and very beautiful and very honest.”
Perego also expressed gratitude for their growing professional collaboration, revealing that he is producing an upcoming film titled Still Life, which will star Saldaña alongside producer Rob Quadrino and filmmaker Alexander Dinelaris.
He described Dinelaris, known for his work on acclaimed films such as Birdman, as both a mentor and close friend, adding that he is excited about the creative team behind the project.
The filmmaker also noted that Saldaña’s involvement in the project adds to a broader series of collaborations between them, following her appearance in his 2023 directorial debut The Absence of Eden.
Beyond Still Life, Perego is also preparing another film titled Petrichor, which will further expand his work as a director and producer alongside Dinelaris and Quadrino.
The couple’s professional momentum comes as Saldaña continues filming Positano, a romantic caper set in Italy, where she is currently working alongside Matthew McConaughey for an upcoming Netflix project.
Perego and Saldaña, who have often balanced family life with their creative careers, are currently spending time in Italy with their children while continuing development on multiple film projects.
