Colman Domingo calls Steven Spielberg a ‘legend’ while reflecting on ‘dream’ film experience
The actor says filming 'Disclosure Day' with Spielberg and an all-star cast was a career highlight
Colman Domingo has opened up about the unforgettable experience of working with legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg on his upcoming project Disclosure Day.
The 56-year-old actor, who stars alongside Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor and Eve Hewson in the science fiction thriller, admitted he was left “in awe” while filming under Spielberg’s direction.
“Everyone has such vivid imaginations, and being led by Steven Spielberg, you feel like there are moments when you absolutely are in awe,” Domingo told Variety.
The Euphoria star explained that the experience sometimes made him step back and realize the significance of the moment.
“Not only while you’re in it and doing the work, but at some point you do rise above your own body and the experience and say, ‘Oh my God, I’m working with Steven Spielberg on a Steven Spielberg set with these incredible actors,’” he shared.
Domingo added that even at this stage of his career, he still finds himself inspired by the people he works with.
“The idea that I’m still awed by the people that I’m working with — that’s what Steven has set up for us,” he said, praising Spielberg’s ability to create an imaginative environment for the cast.
Disclosure Day follows a meteorologist and a cybersecurity expert who become involved in a movement to uncover a government cover-up involving extraterrestrial secrets.
While discussing the film’s themes, Domingo also revealed that he believes there could be life beyond Earth.
“I absolutely do. And I don’t know what they look like, what they feel like, what their objectives are, but I do believe that there has to be more. It can’t just be us,” he said.
The actor explained that his belief comes from looking at the vastness of the universe.
“I stand outside, look at the stars, believing that someone’s staring back at us, and at some point we’ll come together,” Domingo said. “Maybe it’ll be good for all of us.”
