Olivia Rodrigo recalls ‘unforgettable’ fan tradition she encountered at shows
The Grammy winner detailed the lengths some fans take to stay close to the stage
Olivia Rodrigo is opening up about one of the most unusual things she has experienced while performing for devoted fans.
The Grammy-winning singer recently shared a bizarre concert memory, revealing that some fans have gone to extreme lengths to secure a spot at the front of the crowd, including wearing diapers so they do not have to leave during shows.
During an appearance on KISS FM UK, Rodrigo was asked about the strangest place she had ever seen someone use the bathroom.
While she did not give a direct answer, the “driver's license” singer shared an unexpected concert-related experience.
“I have been to certain concerts and certain festivals where people wear diapers so that they can be front row of the show,” Rodrigo said.
The pop star then admitted that the unusual fan dedication had become something she noticed firsthand.
“That’s been an experience as a performer that I have… smelled,” she joked.
Rodrigo added that the tradition reminded her of major public events where crowds gather for long periods, including the annual New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square.
“Everyone is wearing diapers, they sit there all day. I think about it kind of often,” she said.
The singer’s comments come as she continues promoting her latest album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, which explores themes of love, heartbreak and personal growth.
The album has received praise for showcasing Rodrigo’s evolution as a songwriter, with critics highlighting its emotional depth and willingness to explore new creative directions.
Rodrigo is also preparing for a major world tour in 2027, which will include multiple performances at The O2 Arena.
