Jackie Tohn has revealed that longtime friend Jessica Biel gave her a place to live after she dropped out of college to pursue an acting career.

The Nobody Wants This star shared the story during a recent appearance on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, recalling how Biel stepped in when she realised she had nowhere to stay after moving to Los Angeles.

According to Tohn, the pair first became friends as teenagers after meeting at the TV Guide Awards in the late 1990s.

Recalling the life-changing conversation, Tohn said she told Biel she couldn't move to Los Angeles because she had nowhere to live.

"I can't live here. I have nowhere to live," Tohn remembered saying.

Biel's response was immediate.

"She was like, 'Live with my family.' And I was like, 'See ya U Delaware.'"

Tohn admitted Biel also played a major role in encouraging her to leave college and fully pursue acting.

"She was who convinced me, I don't know if she admits this, but she is who convinced me to drop out of college," she said, adding that "it wasn't a hard convince."

After arriving in Los Angeles, Tohn said Biel's family welcomed her with open arms, and her mother, Kim Biel, helped her adjust to living independently.

"Kim Biel, Jess' mom, taught me how to write a check because I moved out of the house. She literally taught me how to pump gas," Tohn recalled.

Although she stayed with the family for fewer than six months, Tohn said the experience remains one of her favorite memories.

She remembered the pair wearing wigs, dressing up in costumes and attending parties near UCLA, adding that photos from that period still make her smile.

Tohn also reflected on another memorable act of kindness from one of her close friends earlier this year, revealing that Kristen Bell once welcomed her into her home late at night after an argument with a boyfriend.

Today, Tohn lives in Glendale, California, with actor and writer-director Joe Gillette.
