Chelsea Handler discusses dating and age gaps on IRL podcast
Comedian Chelsea Handler quipped she is 'too hot' for older men during latest interview
Chelsea Handler has offered a characteristically blunt assessment of her romantic life and the evolving role of age during a guest appearance on the IRL podcast. Speaking with host Angie Martinez on the episode released Thursday, the 51-year-old comedian and actress discussed her current relationship with a man fourteen years her junior.
The pair originally met at a casino in Las Vegas, and while Martinez questioned if the age gap presented challenges, Handler admitted she "doesn't really feel anything" negative about the disparity.
She confessed that while she was not initially seeking a younger partner, she has embraced the shift in her personal preferences.
The This Means War star reflected on her history of dating men significantly older than herself, noting, "When I was young, 20s, 30s, I always dated older guys... 20 years older than me."
However, upon reaching her forties, Handler made a firm decision to move in the "opposite direction."
She jokingly told Martinez, "I've got to flip it and reverse it, you know? I’m too hot to be dating a 65-year-old. Let's be honest."
Handler emphasised that her commitment to self-care and independence remains her top priority, stating she enjoys "hooking up" and travelling without the constant presence of a partner in her space.
Handler, who has previously been linked to high-profile figures including 50 Cent and Jo Koy, reiterated her long-standing view that marriage is an "outdated" practice.
She concluded by confirming that she values her freedom too much to get "too serious" or build her entire life around a relationship.
