Carrie Underwood admits she ‘gets sad’ cutting songs from tour shows

Carrie Underwood has opened up about the emotional challenge behind life on the road, revealing that the toughest part of touring isn’t performing—but deciding what to leave out.

Speaking during a recent media appearance in Nashville, the Grammy-winning artist shared that narrowing down her setlist is the most difficult aspect of preparing for a show.

“The hardest part of touring is figuring out what songs you’re not going to do,” she said, explaining that balancing new material with fan favorites often comes at a cost.

With a catalog packed with chart-topping hits, Underwood admitted she frequently feels disappointed when certain songs don’t make the final lineup.

“I always get sad,” she said. “We’re not gonna do that one?”

Despite fans’ enthusiasm for longer performances, the singer acknowledged there are limits.

“I can’t be on stage for four hours singing my songs,” she joked, adding that even two-hour shows can be physically demanding.

Underwood’s concerts typically feature more than 20 songs, including signature hits like Before He Cheats and Jesus, Take the Wheel, which remain staples of her performances.

The country star recently wrapped her Reflection residency in Las Vegas after more than 70 shows and continues to reflect on the evolution of her music career.
