SAG-AFTRA announces 2026-2027 Actor Awards dates

SAG-AFTRA has officially announced the dates for its upcoming Actor Awards ceremonies, with the 33rd annual event set to stream live on Netflix on February 28, 2027.

The ceremony will begin at 8pm ET (5pm PT), positioning it just two weeks ahead of the 99th Academy Awards, scheduled for March 14, 2027 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The close timing reinforces the Actor Awards’ role as a major bellwether in the Oscars race.

SAG-AFTRA also confirmed that the 34th annual ceremony will take place on February 20, 2028, marking the fourth and fifth consecutive years of its partnership with Netflix — a collaboration that has significantly expanded the global reach of the awards show.

Formerly known as the SAG Awards, the rebranded Actor Awards remain the only major televised ceremony dedicated exclusively to honoring performers in both film and television.

Winners are chosen by SAG-AFTRA’s roughly 160,000 members, making it the largest voting body in the entertainment industry.

The awards’ influence was evident in the most recent season, where actors including Michael B. Jordan, Jessie Buckley, Sean Penn and Amy Madigan went on to secure Oscar wins following their Actor Awards victories.

Spanning 15 categories, the ceremony recognizes leading and supporting performances, ensemble casts and lifetime achievement honorees — with Harrison Ford among the most recent recipients of the prestigious career honor.

While submission deadlines and additional key dates have yet to be announced, SAG-AFTRA said further details will be released in the coming weeks.

For now, the newly revealed schedule gives studios, performers and fans a clear roadmap as Hollywood prepares for another awards season.
