Nikki Glaser recalls 'humiliating' early exit from 'Dancing With The Stars'
Nikki Glaser recounts the stinging criticism received from the late Len Goodman
Acclaimed comedian and actress Nikki Glaser has candidly revisited her 2018 stint on the reality competition Dancing With The Stars, describing her early elimination as "one of the most humiliating moments" of her life.
During a recent appearance on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, the 41-year-old reflected on her brief partnership with professional dancer Gleb Savchenko.
Glaser admitted that she entered the competition with no prior experience, harbouring a naive hope that she might discover an innate talent for ballroom dance.
However, she and Savchenko became the first celebrity couple to be voted off the series, a rejection that Glaser found deeply painful and embarrassing at the time.
The Not Safe with Nikki Glaser alum specifically recalled a stinging critique from the late head judge, Len Goodman.
Following her debut performance, Glaser attempted to follow producer's advice to remain positive, sarcastically exclaiming, "I'm a dancer!" The attempt at humour backfired when Goodman responded with a harsh assessment of her technical ability.
Glaser recounted the exchange, noting, "Len Goodman, the mean judge, was like, 'No, you are not. You looked like a struggling baby horse.' Like, so mean."
Despite the initial hurt, Glaser now views the experience as a significant turning point in her personal growth. She explained that facing such a public failure helped her realise that she could survive her "most embarrassing" fears.
The stand-up veteran has since enjoyed a prolific career, recently achieving widespread acclaim for her performance at the Roast of Tom Brady. She first rose to prominence as a finalist on Last Comic Standing.
