Chad Michael Murray is once again making headlines, this time after a resurfaced pre-fame photo sparked widespread reaction online over his noticeably different appearance.

The image, believed to be from the late 1990s, shows the actor before he underwent surgery on his nose, prompting fans to express surprise at the transformation.

Social media users quickly weighed in, with many admitting they struggled to recognize the One Tree Hill star in the throwback snapshot. However, the story behind the change is far from cosmetic.

Murray has previously clarified that the procedure was not elective. At 18, the actor was assaulted during an incident at a fast-food restaurant, leaving his nose severely injured. He later recalled that it had been knocked “to the other side” of his face, requiring immediate medical attention.

“It wasn’t a nose job,” Murray emphasized in a past interview, pushing back against long-standing assumptions about his appearance.

According to the actor, doctors reset his nose without even conducting X-rays due to the severity of the situation.

Despite the physical correction, Murray has admitted that adjusting to his post-surgery appearance wasn’t easy. In a more recent interview, he revealed that he often felt disconnected from his own reflection early in his career.

“I don’t like my nose because it’s not my nose,” he said, adding that his twenties were a challenging period of self-discovery and personal growth.
