Charlize Theron says she won’t financially support her children for life
The actress says her daughters must get jobs to build financial independence
Charlize Theron has opened up about her strict yet practical parenting approach, revealing how she is raising her daughters to become financially independent and hardworking individuals.
Speaking on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, the Oscar-winning actress shared that her focus as a single mother in Hollywood is to ensure her children understand the value of earning their own way in life rather than relying on family wealth.
Theron explained that she wants her daughters to develop a strong work ethic from an early age, stressing that financial independence will be essential for their future.
“They just need to get a job that pays them because I don’t want to support them for the rest of their life,” she said.
The actress, known for films such as Atomic Blonde and The Old Guard, also shared that her children will have to earn privileges like cars and other luxuries rather than receiving them outright.
Recalling a conversation with her daughter, Theron joked that their first car would be a modest one.
“Your first car is going to be a Datsun because you’re going to crash it,” she said, emphasizing the importance of experience over luxury.
She further noted that her daughters will be expected to take on responsibilities such as summer jobs, encouraging them to understand real-world work environments.
Comparing it to everyday interactions, she pointed to customer service roles as an example of discipline and professionalism.
