Jennifer Aniston leaves Valerie Cherish speechless in surprise 'The Comeback' appearance
The beloved HBO satire officially wrapped its third and final season on May 10
Jennifer Aniston surprised fans and even Lisa Kudrow’s iconic character Valerie Cherish with a surprise appearance during the emotional finale celebrations for The Comeback.
The beloved HBO comedy aired its season three and series finale on May 10, closing another chapter for Kudrow’s cult-favourite character, Valerie Cherish. But it was a surprise message from Aniston during the show’s companion podcast that quickly became one of the most talked-about moments online.
Appearing in a pre-recorded segment, Aniston introduced herself as a “huge fan” of Valerie before asking the fictional television star a playful question.
“Hi, Valerie. My name is Jen Aniston, and I’m such a huge fan,” the actress said, leaving Valerie visibly stunned during the in-character exchange.
Kudrow, remaining fully committed to the role, responded with exaggerated excitement and disbelief after hearing from her longtime fellow Friends star.
“I don’t even know what she asked me anymore because it’s Jennifer Aniston!” Valerie exclaimed during the comedic moment, adding that the actress was speaking to her “like a peer.”
The interaction also included a nostalgic nod to the pair’s shared television history, with Valerie joking that the two had a “connection” because Friends and her fictional sitcom filmed on the same Warner Bros. lot.
The emotional finale arrives as Kudrow reflects on wrapping up the acclaimed comedy series, admitting in recent interviews that filming the show’s final scenes proved unexpectedly overwhelming.
The actress revealed she struggled to separate her own emotions from Valerie’s while shooting the concluding moments, calling the experience deeply emotional after years of portraying the eccentric television personality.
Since premiering in 2005, The Comeback has built a passionate fanbase and earned praise for its satirical look at fame, reality television, and Hollywood culture.
