Drake surpasses Michael Jackson’s Billboard record with 14th No.1 hit
The rapper claimed a historic Billboard record after 'Janice STFU' debuted at No. 1
Canadian rap superstar Drake has made music history after surpassing Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 by a solo male artist.
Drake achieved the milestone when his latest single, “Janice STFU,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving him his 14th chart-topping hit and moving him ahead of Jackson’s long-standing record of 13.
Jackson held the mark for more than three decades. His first solo No. 1 arrived with “Ben” in 1972, while his final chart-topper, “You Are Not Alone,” debuted at No. 1 in 1995. The late pop icon amassed 13 Hot 100 leaders during a career that reshaped the music industry and set numerous chart records.
Drake’s latest achievement comes amid a remarkable month for the rapper, who surprised fans on May 15 with the release of three albums on the same day: ICEMAN, HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR.
The ambitious triple-project rollout followed years of teasing ICEMAN through livestreams and unreleased previews.
During his final stream before launch, Drake stunned fans by announcing two additional albums that would arrive alongside the highly anticipated rap record.
Each album showcased a different side of the artist’s musical identity. ICEMAN, Drake’s ninth studio rap album, features collaborations with 21 Savage, Future and Molly Santana.
The project includes hard-hitting rap tracks and lyrical shots aimed at several high-profile figures, including A$AP Rocky, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, LeBron James and Rihanna.
Meanwhile, HABIBTI leans into the smooth R&B sound that helped establish Drake’s early success, while MAID OF HONOUR embraces dance and electronic influences reminiscent of his 2022 album Honestly, Nevermind.
The three albums dominated the Billboard 200 upon release, debuting at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 respectively. The feat also gave Drake his 15th No. 1 album, allowing him to surpass Jay-Z for the most chart-topping albums among solo male rap and R&B artists.
Drake is now tied with Rihanna and Taylor Swift for the third-most No. 1 albums among all acts, trailing only Mariah Carey and The Beatles.
The chart dominance did not stop there. Drake also broke Morgan Wallen’s record for the most Billboard Hot 100 entries in a single week, with 42 songs charting simultaneously. Nine of those tracks occupied positions within the Top 10.
