Jennifer Lopez recalls 'horrible' moment when cricket crawled up her neck mid-concert

Jennifer Lopez has opened up about a viral on-stage moment in which a large cricket crawled up her neck during a live concert, describing the experience as “kind of horrible.”

The 56-year-old entertainer recalled the incident during an appearance on the SmartLess on June 15, where she discussed the unexpected moment from her 2025 tour stop in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Lopez said the incident happened during a quieter segment of the show while she was performing a song in Spanish under a single spotlight.

She explained that the atmosphere was calm, with minimal movement on stage, before the situation suddenly changed.

She noted that she had already noticed small insects around the stage earlier in the night, but did not expect what happened next.

As she continued singing, Lopez said the audience suddenly began screaming, breaking the usual flow of the performance.

Moments later, she realized that a large cricket had crawled up her neck.

“I was like, ‘what’s happening?’” she recalled, describing how she remained still to finish her line before reacting.

Despite the shock, Lopez said she maintained her composure and continued the performance, later joking that the insect appeared so large it looked like a “helicopter” when it flew toward the stage lights.

“It was tickling me,” she told fans at the time, before finishing the show.

The incident took place during her 2025 Up All Night: Live in 2025 tour and quickly gained attention online after footage circulated showing the singer calmly brushing the insect away mid-performance.

Reflecting on the moment, Lopez admitted that if she had fully understood what was happening in real time, she likely would have reacted very differently.

“But that was crazy, it was kind of horrible,” she said, adding that the unexpected encounter remains one of the most unusual moments of her live performances.
