'Austin Powers 4' gets promising update as Mike Myers says ‘yes’
Mike Myers gives fans renewed hope for a fourth 'Austin Powers' film
Austin Powers 4 appears to be moving forward after Mike Myers gave fans a straightforward update on the long-rumoured sequel, responding with a simple “yes” when asked whether another installment of the comedy franchise is in the works.
The actor made the comment during an appearance on Trevor Noah’s World Cup Watch Party, where a fan asked directly if audiences could expect a fourth Austin Powers film.
While Myers did not reveal any plot details or production timeline, the response represents the strongest indication yet that a new chapter in the franchise could be heading into development.
The update comes more than 20 years after Austin Powers in Goldmember arrived in cinemas and concluded the trilogy.
Director Previously Said a Fourth Film Depends on the Right Idea
The possibility of another Austin Powers movie has been discussed for years, though Myers has often stopped short of confirming whether a sequel was actively being pursued.
In a 2020 interview, franchise director Jay Roach said a fourth installment remained possible if Myers found a concept that genuinely inspired him.
“I wouldn’t say ‘never’ never, but it does depend on Mike having something that he’s inspired about,” Roach said at the time, adding that he would be eager to return if the actor decided to revisit the series.
Myers has also previously suggested that any future installment could place greater emphasis on Dr. Evil, one of the franchise's most popular and enduring characters.
'Austin Powers' Franchise Remains a Comedy Favourite More Than Two Decades Later
The Austin Powers series launched with Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery in 1997 and quickly became a worldwide hit. Two sequels followed — The Spy Who Shagged Me in 1999 and Goldmember in 2002.
The films earned more than half a billion dollars worldwide and helped turn Austin Powers and Dr. Evil into pop-culture icons.
Interest in the franchise has remained strong over the years, fuelled by frequent references, parodies and reruns that introduced the films to new generations of viewers.
Recent Cast Reunion Fuelled Fresh Sequel Speculation
Speculation about the future of the franchise intensified recently when Myers reunited with several Austin Powers co-stars in a Verizon commercial.
The advertisement featured Myers alongside Seth Green, Mindy Sterling and Rob Lowe, sparking fresh discussion among fans about whether a new movie was in the works.
Although no release date, cast announcements or production details have been confirmed, Myers' simple answer has given fans their strongest reason yet to believe that Austin Powers 4 may finally be on the horizon.
