Simon Pegg credits Tom Cruise with helping him navigate fame
'The Mission: Impossible' star praised Tom Cruise for the way he treats fans while reflecting on his own journey
Simon Pegg has opened up about how Tom Cruise has helped him better navigate the pressures of fame after watching how the Hollywood superstar interacts with fans.
The 56-year-old actor, who has appeared alongside Cruise in six Mission: Impossible films, praised his co-star for remaining gracious despite living under constant public attention.
Speaking to The Sunday Times Magazine, Pegg said Cruise understands the responsibility that comes with being one of the world's biggest movie stars and always treats fans with respect.
Pegg admitted observing Cruise's approach changed his own outlook, saying celebrities should appreciate people who approach them with kindness rather than react negatively.
Beyond fame, the actor also reflected on his battle with alcoholism, revealing he believes he would still have struggled with drinking regardless of becoming famous.
Now 16 years sober, Pegg said quitting alcohol inspired him to adopt a healthier lifestyle through daily running and strength training.
He also credited treatment at The Priory in 2010 with helping save his life, explaining that he eventually chose to speak publicly about his recovery in the hope that others facing similar challenges would feel less alone.
