Seth Meyers reveals which former 'SNL' castmate he'd call in emergency
Seth Meyers also shares details about his funniest SNL group chats
Seth Meyers revealed the one celebrity he would list as his emergency contact, naming former Saturday Night Live co-star Andy Samberg despite joking that he may not be the most practical choice.
The Late Night with Seth Meyers host shared the answer during the July 7 episode of Hey Jonas with Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas, where he took part in a rapid-fire question segment.
Meyers says Samberg would be his first call
Asked which celebrity he would choose as his emergency contact, Meyers immediately replied: "Samberg."
Explaining his choice, the comedian joked, "I don't think he'd be helpful, but I do think... he'd be a funny guy."
Despite Samberg's comedic reputation, Meyers added that his longtime friend is someone who "has got it locked down," suggesting he would remain dependable in a crisis.
The pair worked together on Saturday Night Live for seven years and have remained close friends since leaving the sketch comedy series.
Long-running friendship extends beyond SNL
Meyers and Samberg continue to collaborate as co-hosts of The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast alongside Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone.
Their friendship has also produced plenty of running jokes over the years, including Samberg's long-running mock feud with Meyers' Italian Greyhound, Frisbee, who died in August 2025.
Following the dog's death, Samberg jokingly insisted he had nothing to do with it, while acknowledging the loss of a pet was a serious matter.
Meyers also reveals favourite group chats
Elsewhere in the interview, Meyers shared details about his group chats with former SNL colleagues.
He said one of his favourite chats, called "The Tripod," includes Amy Poehler and producer Michael Shoemaker and described it as a supportive conversation.
Meyers also revealed that one of his funniest message threads includes Samberg, Bill Hader and Fred Armisen, praising Armisen as the funniest texter he knows.
As an example, Meyers recalled receiving a Father's Day voice note from Armisen impersonating Homer Simpson instead of a traditional greeting, joking that the message was "better than a thousand doughnuts."
